Carl:  00:01:19: It’s been quite a transition to winter here in Northumberland when Storm Arwen reminded us of the power of mother nature… Despite all our modern gadgets, many of us were without power and struggling to keep warm. It all seemed very much like the olden days. And looking back to ancient times, we know that societies have found ways to make winter brighter and Tom’s doing the same while… grappling with the loss of berries … oh oh!

Christmas is a time for birds to take centre stage on decorations and cards … and dinner tables for some… and Tom Cadwallander from the British Trust for Ornithology is looking at the festive roots of the robin and turkey.
